Welcome to the UBUNTU UNITY CHALLENGE!
To kickoff an exciting month of reimagining unity for our nation (one DARE at a time), we’d love to get to know the brave humans in our ubuntu crew! Introduce yourself in the comments down below by sharing:
- Why you accepted the DARE to join the UBUNTU UNITY CHALLENGE
- One goal or hope you have for our next month together
We have an exciting, gritty, and rich road ahead! Thank you for showing up. You are essential to reimagining a culture that is rooted in a belief of our shared humanity. You are absolutely needed in this effort to cultivate a society of acceptance, respect, and liberation. And look at this beautiful ubuntu crew who believes in YOU (and who believe in US, this collective, too!). Let’s get after it together!
If you’ve stumbled on this discussion page and are interested in joining us for the UBUNTU UNITY CHALLENGE, there’s still time to join the crew! Just head on over to the UBUNTU UNITY CHALLENGE info page, enter your name and email, and click “I’m up for the Challenge!”
A few quick community guidelines to create a safe space for all of us to show up, be seen, and share openly here:
- Differing perspectives and opinions are welcomed in this space (the more diverse our experiences and backgrounds, the better)! We will focus on voicing OUR OWN perspectives, without shaming or devaluing the expressed opinions of others.
- This is a platform that affirms the inherent dignity of every human life. Our comments will never demean an individual or an entire group of people.
- We are here to share our ideas and learn from each other so that we can help our nation heal and remember our shared humanity. We are not showing up with the goal of drilling home our point or winning a debate.
- These discussions are a place to have fun, gain fresh perspective, and connect with other people. We show up with a willingness and commitment to take up space in such a way that all three are possible for all who gather here.

Hi everyone!
I’m Christine, currently living in Sacramento, CA, and I am excited to partake in this challenge. Our country is much too divided, and it’s sad that people of different backgrounds can hardly have a conversation anymore. I too hope for more unity. As such, it was a no brainer for me to accept the Ubuntu Unity Challenge! My hope this next month together is to have amazing dialogue and conversation as we encourage each other towards unity in the midst of the great divisions we have been experiencing. God bless!
Christine! Thanks for being here, my friend. I love your excitement for more dialogue and conversation. I’m excited to learn with you and from you this month!
Hello! I am Jackie and I live in Fort Collins, CO. I feel grateful for the opportunity to take part in this challenge, and proud of myself for taking the first step. My goal in participating in this challenge is to learn more about myself and my own unconscious biases, and face them head on. I can’t wait to learn more from everyone, and hopefully gain the COURAGE to engage more in uncomfortable conversations in order to bring light and solidarity to diversity.
Jackie! You are already such a LIGHT and I’m really stoked for what you are bringing to the conversation this month. I love your willingness to learn the hard stuff – your courage is already coming through in your post. Excited to have you in the crew!
Hi! I’m a late joiner because I am feeling overwhelmed in this season and didn’t think I could take on the pressure of time-challenges. Now I understand I can practice not being a perfectionist here while also having specific tasks to make more progress on unlearning my biases and engaging hard convos. I’m looking forward to having a community to share this process with.
Heather! Clearly my late reply here is indicative of a very loose timeline here for working through the challenge, but I did want to say thank you for jumping in when you did and for moving through at your own pace. Your perspective and experiences are so valuable and needed in this conversation, and I’m so glad you’re here!
